Company History
Since 1961, Stan Tashman & Associates, Inc., has shared successful partnerships and growth with the finest manufacturers and customers in the industry. We have dedicated ourselves to accelerating the growth and market dominance of the products we represent, carefully selecting product lines to guarantee that each factory gets the attention it deserves. Our consistent growth is a positive testament of our commitment to excellence, integrity, dedication, and persistence.
How We Started: In 1961, Stan Tashman answered an L.A. Times ad seeking a regional salesman for Oxwall Tools. When he got the job, Tashman was launched.
1960s: During the 1960s, the industry was fragmented, with a distribution network composed of hundreds of small hardware, drug, discount, auto, and variety-store chains. Tashman expanded, maintaining a full array of products to serve the needs of this diverse distribution network.
1970s: After working from home for ten years, Stan relocated to offices in downtown Los Angeles and hired hard-working associates to work alongside him. One of those associates happened to be his son, Rich Tashman.
1980s: During the 1980s, the father-and-son partnership between Stan and Rich laid the foundation for a business built on respect, trust, and mutual confidence. As customers’ sales revenues rose, Tashman became a leader in the industry.
1990s: To keep up with growing demand, Tashman expanded its Sales and Service Departments. The company saw unprecedented growth in this period, under the new leadership of Rich Tashman, who became president in 1999, as Stan Tashman adopted the role of chairman.
2000s: Another significant addition occurred in August 2000 when
Ty Olson, who had many years of industry experience, joined the Tashman management team. In May 2002, Ty’s exemplary management efforts were rewarded with an invitation to join the executive partnership of Rich and Stan Tashman.
During the mid-2000s, The Home Depot (one of the company’s largest clients) carefully changed their approach to in-store service. After conducting an extremely thorough selection process, they awarded Tashman one of the ISS contracts for the Flooring and Storage Departments.
In 2007, Tashman added another seasoned veteran to the Corporate Management Team. Jim Stadtlander brought his 25-plus years of experience in executive management at Fortune 500 companies to Tashman, serving as Chief Operations Officer.
